Mumbai is one of my favorite places to photograph. Not only is the city colorful, bustling and full of contrasts, but the people are gentle and like being photographed.
This essay celebrates the people and the colors of the city, a fitting introduction to the Mumbaikars. It was mostly shot during my third trip to Mumbai, in December 2015. I had visited the “Maximum City” earlier for other photography projects and decided to organize a workshop to share my enthusiasm for the city with a group of fellow photographers. We strolled through the streets and alleys of Worli, Malabar Hill, Bandra, Dadar, Mahalaxmi, Colaba, Fort and many other areas, discovering at every turn another interesting scene, people to talk to, and photo opportunities.
